Christmas Gifts

I know, we are not supposed to have these gifts yet... it is not even Christmas Eve. But Elizabeth & Jimmy celebrated Christmas with us early (Monday) because they cannot be her at Christmas.

THANK YOU, Liz & Jimmy for the shirts!

THANK YOU , Jon & Bekah for the nice hoodies!

THANK YOU, Matt & Amanda for the
nice waterfall!

Femmy & I are so thankful for each of you and the joy that you bring our lives!

"We thank our God upon every rememberance of you!"

"For unto us a Child is born, and His name shall be called Wonderful!"

Merry Christmas 2006

Last Christmas we were visiting Matt & Amanda in Tampa, Florida. We then drove up on Christmas Day and visited with Jonathan & Bekah in North Carolina. Elizabeth & Jimmy were with us, so all the family was together.

This Christmas we will have our first Christmas without our children. We had an "early Christmas" with Elizabeth & Jimmy on Dec. 19 and Jimmy's dad and other friends. It was a nice time of good food and Christmas love. Femmy got to spend some time with her sister for a few days, and then we both plan to serve at the local homeless shelter this year.

I hope to spend some time with completing my update of the exciting times that took place in 2005 in Charlie & Femmy's Life. Meanwhile, we have enjoyed all the Christmas cards from our family and friends. We wish you each a Happy Christmas and a Fun 2007!

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

"Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

REFLECTIONS: 2005

JUNE - MY NEW JOB:
I decided to leave the homeless shelter administration work and took a clinical liaison position working with heroin addicts to help them achieve a better quality of life. It was a great experience. I worked 13 months in this position.

REFLECTIONS: 2005

MY JOB -
Still working at a homeless shelter and treatment program where I had been working since 1997. I had been promoted to administration and found that I did not enjoy admin as much as direct services to the disadvantaged. I was not happy.

Charlie & Femmy's Life

Making A Difference in 2006

The Starfish Story
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean. He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?"The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean.""I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man.To this, the young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die."Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one."
